Travel to Belgium

The coronavirus crisis is now a pandemic which has spread across the globe, with cases on five continents. International movements of people create conditions which facilitate the spread of the virus across borders.

In order to prevent the virus from further spreading, it was decided to strengthen the European external borders by imposing a coordinated and temporary 30-day restriction on all non-essential travel to the EU.

This temporary restriction means that travellers outside the Schengen area will NOT be able to travel to Belgium (or the other Member States) within the next thirty days.

Exemptions:

  • EU citizens and their family members
  • Long term residents returning to their home in Belgium (or in another Member State)

(*) Few more exceptions will be allowed: diplomats, medical staff etc.

! Please note that under the present circumstances we are afraid that we cannot accept/process any visa application at this moment.

We therefore highly recommend that you refrain from travelling to the EU countries, including Belgium, and postpone all your travel plans.
